ENIGMA Leads the Drafting of “Additive Manufacturing of Metal Parts by Directed Energy Deposition” Group Standard–Officially Released

Jun 06, 2026

Recently, the group standard *“Additive Manufacturing of Metal Parts by Directed Energy Deposition” (T/CWAN 0169-2026)*, organized by the Expert Working Committee of the Welding Equipment Sub-Association of China Welding Association, led by Nanjing ENIGMA Industrial Automation Technology Co., Ltd. in its drafting, and jointly drafted by Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Hangzhou Kaierda Welding Robot Co., Ltd., Ningbo Intelligent Machine Tool Research Institute Co., Ltd. of China National Machinery Institute Group, Nanjing Gezhi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Shandong Aotai Electric Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Chuangli Welding Technology Co., Ltd., Shandong Kaisirui Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd., 、Nanjing UAM Institute Co.,Ltd、 Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Zhonghan Welding Technology Co., Ltd., Zhonghan Technology Development (Harbin) Co., Ltd., and Harbin Institute of Technology Suzhou Research Institute, was officially released on June 3, 2026, and will come into effect on July 1, 2026.

In recent years, additive manufacturing technology has developed rapidly. Directed Energy Deposition (DED), as one of the core technological routes for metal additive manufacturing, has demonstrated irreplaceable advantages in high-end manufacturing fields such as aerospace, defense, shipbuilding, and energy. However, the previous full-process specifications for DED additive manufacturing in China were incomplete, lacking unified guidelines for the various aspects of "man, machine, material, method, and environment" (the 5M1E elements). Addressing these existing pain points in the industry, ENIGMA took the lead in initiating the standard project application, driving its approval and implementation, and coordinating the drafting of provisions for multiple DED processes including laser, arc, and electron beam to fill the gaps in industry standards. This fully reflects ENIGMA's deep commitment to the industry and its responsibility in leading the standardization process.

After the official release and implementation of the standard, it will provide scientific guidance for pre-production validation and mass production of metal parts in enterprises. It will help companies achieve rapid design, rapid manufacturing, rapid verification, and precise quality control of metal components, further enhancing the development efficiency and production quality of complex structures and key parts. This will empower the quality improvement and upgrading of domestic high-end manufacturing and strengthen China’s international competitiveness in the additive manufacturing field.
